Regents Scholar
Verity Gray is a pre-medical student and Regents Scholar at University of New Mexico who is
passionate about improving healthcare access in rural communities. She is pursuing her goal of
becoming an emergency medicine physician through her work as a research assistant in the
neuroscience department at UNM Health, an office assistant in hospital medicine and
gastroenterology at UNM Hospital, secretary of the BA/MD Student Organization, and a hospice
care volunteer. Verity also remains actively involved with the YMCA as an alumni volunteer for
the New Mexico Youth and Government Program and as a member of the YMCA National Youth
Advisory Council.
“East Mountain empowered me to set and achieve my academic goals while also providing a
supportive community. By emphasizing both achievement and service, East Mountain taught me
the value of positively impacting those around me. Above all, I am grateful for the connections
I made at East Mountain that continue to support and motivate me.”
