    Two Seniors Receive the NSDA Academic All American Award

    Seniors Grayson Oakleaf and Miller Millea were nominated and selected for the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) Academic All American Award. This is a prestigious award that is received by only around 2% of competitors nationally. To be considered for this award, they both had to accumulate a minimum of 750 NSDA merit points throughout their Speech and Debate careers, showcase community involvement, and demonstrate academic excellence. Their achievement reflects not only four years of dedication to Speech and Debate, but also a deep commitment to leadership, scholarship, and service—values that embody the true spirit of the NSDA and East Mountain.

    College Board Chooses East Mountain Senior to be a BigFuture Ambassador

    East Mountain senior, Samantha York, was chosen as a College Board BigFuture Ambassador after applying with guidance from Mrs. Marcelain, the College and Career Counselor. A BigFuture Student Ambassador is a student leader who helps classmates explore college, career, and scholarship opportunities through the BigFuture platform. Sam will share resources, tips, and updates to support her peers in planning for life after high school. She will learn valuable leadership and communication skills while helping her peers access valuable college and career planning support.

    East Mountain Student Chosen for the New Mexico Charter School Advocates Program

    Miller Millea, a senior at East Mountain, applied and was selected to serve as a Charter School Advocate for the Public Charter Schools of New Mexico (PCSNM). He has worked with PCSNM before and will be advocating for charter schools, sharing his story and the story of East Mountain and its impact on students. He will be visiting the State Legislature in January and February to advocate, lobby, and represent East Mountain, helping to make our school’s voice heard.
